the nursery...

i'm definitely not a traditionalist when it comes to the nursery.  there have been lots
of blood, sweat, and tears (well mainly tears) that went into finding just the right mix of things for a cute, modern, not too girly, not too "matchy", but sweet and not too babyish nursery.
i'm happy to say that with the help of my husband and mom we have accomplished that goal!
hope isla loves her little space as much as we do!
there are lots of pics in this post, so get ready!

we started with the walls.  the paint color is sticks and stones from sherwin williams.
i wanted something neutral that would really make the white and the other colors stand out, and
i think it turned out perfectly!
crib
the crib is from walmart.  i can't find our exact crib anymore but walmart has a great selection of
affordable, modern cribs.  and the one we bought has a drawer at the bottom
which is great for keeping sheets and blankets!
crib2
the green and white pillows are from etsy.   she has tons of cute fabric choices!  the "i" also came from
etsy.  it is actually a wall decal but we put it on a blank canvas because i liked the way it
looked with white behind it.  the crib sheet is from target and the crib skirt is just fabric from ikea.
miss meryl gave us ollie the owl and my sweet mom gave isla the sock monkey.
bookshelves
the bookcases are cubes from target that we hung on the wall.  they are great for keeping our books organized as well as showing off a few of my favorite things.  the storage box is orla kiely
for target (i've had it for a couple of years), the paper mache bird is from this cute little shop in austin called wildflower that kat and aimee introduced me to, the fabric "i" is from anthro, and the
sweet grey moccasins were a gift from kristen.
books
and i absolutely love the bookshelves on the other side of the crib.  they are actually spice racks from
ikea. they come in the natural wood color and we just spray painted them white.  i got the idea from ohdeedoh.  they are just so great for showing off some of your favorite books.  the big canvas tote came from pottery barn kids, and holds lots of fun toys and random things.
chairs
there are two rocking chairs in the room.  the grey one (abby's favorite) was a christmas gift from my parents a couple of years ago and is from urban outfitters.  the danish rocking chair with the
grey and white cushions was a great find on craigslist.  we just had the cushions recovered and it looks brand new.  the cute owl pillow was another fun gift from kristen (she really is so creative).  and the metal bucket is a great place to keep all our cute swaddle blankets and burp clothes.

the other side of the room has the changing table which is a dresser that i got for $20 at a garage sale down the street!  and the round mirror is from ikea.
lamp
i made the changing pad cover from fabric that i bought at ikea.  and don't you just love that lamp! my mom and i found it at home goods and i love how it looks when the light is on!  the wall hooks are from anthro and are a great place to keep the diaper bag (which is packed and ready for the hospital).

the pictures on the wall all have special meaning.  of course there is abby... who we love so much
and know that isla will love her too, then the LOVE pic was taken when we lived in philly
just after we got married, and the pic of joe and i was taken last summer in mexico right after
we found out i was pregnant.
abby
and i just had to show off our sweet abby!  she absolutely loves the grey pebble rug from west elm.
the rug took a long time to decide on but this rug worked out perfectly and we will have
a lot of room to play with isla and abby (plus its grey)!!

So glad I stumbled upon your blog!!!! Love your nursery!

We have a little guy on the way (our first!) and the nursery has been SO much fun. Just like you, I didn't want anything to "themed" or babyish.

It looks fantastic!! Great job! :)

I love this paint color! In person, does it appear more grey or brown? In several pics, it looks grey to me, but in others, it appears beige. I'm getting ready to paint our master bedroom and definitely want a greige color. Thanks! :)

the color definitely changed with different lighting. in the natural daylight it looked more grey but more brown at night with the lights on. it was a great color though and definitely recommend it! another color that is a good option if you are wanting something greige is wood smoke by glidden. we recently used it in our master bedroom and i love it!

Hi there .. thanks so much for your quick response!! Your daughter's nursery is adorable! Wood Smoke is beautiful too! :) I'm also considering Sherwin Williams Perfect Greige and Morris Room Grey. It can be tough choosing the right grey. Did you paint 2 coats of the Sticks and Stones? It looks as though your walls are textured and ours are the same way. For some reason our walls seem to really want to soak up the paint.
